I’m James Coats, an award-winning poet, author, educator, and creative change agent from Southern California. I use writing and spoken word to encourage self-expression, strengthen community connections, and help people recognize the value of their own voices.

I’ve led writing, creativity, business, and professional development workshops since 2016. I founded Lift Our Voices Education in 2021 to create compassionate spaces where people can learn, reflect, heal, and connect through meaningful artistic experiences.
